“L’aqueduc du Moulin” – The olive mill wheel on the old transport route to Vence
On the outskirts of Tourettes-sur-Loup, close to the Madeleine car park, are the remains of an old 19th-century olive mill. Previously, there were two more mills a little further down, which testified to the importance of olive production in the region.
The mills were powered by water from an aqueduct, which can still be seen today. It stretches in an arc over the old transport route to Vence, today rue de la Bourgade.
Today, the building is designed for private residence, but you can still admire the big red iron mill wheel and enjoy the beautiful view into the old medieval town of Tourettes-sur-Loup and the raw cliffs on which the town is built.
