The laundry in Tourettes-sur-Loup is very centrally located in the town, right on the main road Route de Vence and opposite the church of Saint Gregoire.
Like most washhouses in France, it was built in the 1800s as part of the prevention of the hygiene challenges of the time, which followed in the wake of the widespread pandemics that ravaged the 19th and 20th centuries.
In front of the washhouse is a very popular fountain, especially for cyclists who can fill their water bottles with fresh water.
