La Garoupe Beach – Historical significance
In the 1920s, La Garoupe Strand became a gathering place for artists and writers including Ernest Hemingway, Pablo Picasso and F. Scott Fitzgerald. American couple Gerald and Sara Murphy owned a villa in the area and invited their famous friends to enjoy the beauty of the beach, contributing to its iconic status.

Access and parking
The beach is approximately 2-3 km from the center of Antibes. You can get there:
- By car: Follow the signs for Cap d’Antibes and turn at the “Plage de la Garoupe” sign. Good parking conditions along Avenue André Sella.
- On foot: A beautiful walk of around 40 minutes from the city center.
- By bus: Bus no. 2 from Antibes stops close to the beach.
Both private and public parking is available, but it is recommended to arrive early in high season to secure a spot.

Near La Garoupe beach you’ll find several remarkable villas:
Villa Eilenroc – with a breathtaking rose garden
Château de la Croë – Now owned by Roman Abramovich.
Château de la Garoupe – Sold in 2023 for 65 million euros.
The beach is also the starting point for the scenic coastal path Sentier du Tirepoil which offers a fantastic hike around Cap d’Antibes.
