Grand Fontaine 1850

The fountain is located on the idyllic Place du Marché (formerly Place du Marcat), which had been built in 1615 by Melchior Martin, a stonemason from the village.

La Grande Fontaine was built in 1850 in the Provencal style. The square with the fountain has inspired many painters and photographers over time. It was also here that Célestin Freinet took his students to outdoor classes.

The oldest fountain in the city is located on Place de Placette, from where the water has flowed since 1611.
