A successful restoration?
The bastion has undergone an extensive restoration in 2020 and one may perhaps discuss whether the appearance of the bastion was better before. Judge for yourself!
The small fort once housed a guard room, a kitchen and a gunpowder warehouse. The original oven in the kitchen can still be seen, as can Grimaldi’s coat of arms, which is located inside the museum.
The bastion is today a very fine museum dedicated to Jean Cocteau, belonging to the museum Jean Cocteau which is just 100 m from here. Art and individual maritime elements are presented on two floors.
There is a special atmosphere in the vaulted rooms with the rustic stones where the art emerges in an almost homely way.
