Antibes market – among the top 10 in the world

For many, the markets in French cities are equal to the essence of the Provencal lifestyle. These markets bring together the citizens of the city, high and low, and they have been doing so for almost 1000 years.

The market in Antibes, Marché Provencal Antibes, is in a class of its own. It has been placed on CNN’s top 10 list of the world’s best fresh markets.

It is centrally located on the Cours Massena in the old town, just a few minutes’ walk from Grimaldi Castle (Picasso Museum).

Visitors can experience a fireworks display of local specialties and gourmet ingredients from the Provence region.

Charming atmosphere around the market in Antibes

Around the market there is a selection of bars and restaurants where you can peacefully sit and watch life, as well as feel how the smell of the Provencal products waves through the atmosphere. Among other things you will find the small Absinthe Bar, a little gem with a very special charming interior, which also is a small museum for absinthe.

In the afternoon on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays in high season, the marketplace is taken over by craft stalls selling everything from paintings and ceramics to jewelry and clothing.

Remember to bring cash and a shopping bag, it is both nicer than the plastic bags you can get at the stalls and better for the environment😊
