Tour Description – Coastal walk around Cap-Ferrat

This is a wonderful and accessible tour for all ages. The tour can be varied in length, depending on where you start and end.

The longest trip (15 km) starts from the center of Villefranche-sur-Mer and the shortest trip (4.5 km) starts from the lighthouse and here you just walk halfway around Cap-Ferrat and return.

We chose to walk around from the port of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat and return to the starting point, which is 6.5 km.

It’s a great tour focusing on the beauty of the French coastline along a varied coastal path.

The start of the trip is on an almost boulevard-like path, after which it changes character to a more normal and narrower coastal path.

  • Length: 7 km
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Time consumption: 1.5-2 hours
  • Elevation: +/- 75 m

Tour start – Coastal walk around Cap-Ferrat

The walking tour starts from the port of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat at the church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste.

You can choose to look inside the church before the tour starts or visit it when you return to the harbor after the hike.

From here you just follow the road for about 100 meters until you meet, on the right hand, the small Passage des Fosses. Take it as a lead on to Avenue Claude Vignon and turn right. After about 150 metres, the path starts on the left side, along the Chemin de la Carrière.

After about 100 m , you pass The Gulf of Anse des Fossés and one of the two beaches on this side of the peninsula, Plage de la Fosse.

Then just follow the path all the way until you reach the beach Plage Passable , after about 5 km.

The landscape varies along the way from rough moon-like seabed at the tip of Cap-Ferrat to colorful rocky little coves where you can find fine baths and sun opportunities.

When you reach Plage Passable, you then go via the residential area roads back to the port and we highly recommend stopping on the way and visit the fantastic Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild with its nine gardens.

It is one of the Riviera’s most splendid mansions. Here you can also have lunch on their cozy little garden terrace.
